About Us

Our Story

The idea for 3 Key emerged in 2023 when our founders recognized the need in their own department for a cultural shift and spiritual care within their own department. After much prayer and discussion, they chose to seek education and training as fire/EMS chaplains. 3 Key was founded on the premise that chaplaincy is a ministry of presence and that spiritual care can support responders before, during, and after the call. When responders are supported in this way, it strengthens the department, allowing them to better serve the citizens who place their trust in them.

3 Key officially opened its doors in the winter of 2025 and now stands ready and eager to serve the fire/EMS community!

Chaplain Services

These Services are FREE of chrge in Oklahoma and Arkansas thanks to private donors and local and state grants and funding!

At 3 Key Fire and EMS Support Services, our Chaplains are trained and ordained as Fire/EMS Chaplains, with many of them being veterans of the emergency services themselves. They are here to walk alongside first responders and their families before, during, and after the call. We recognize that while Fire and EMS professionals train extensively for the technical demands of the job, the emotional, relational, and spiritual impact of the work often goes unaddressed. Our chaplains exist to fill that gap—providing trusted presence, compassionate care, and long-term support.

Before the Call

Proactive Care for Those Who Serve

Before the call is where we invest intentionally in Fire and EMS personnel and their families. The stressors of public safety do not begin when the tones drop—they build over time, affecting marriages, families, and personal well-being. Our chaplains focus on strengthening the individual and family unit so responders are better equipped both on the job and at home.

Chaplain Services before the call include:

Building open, confidential, and caring relationships with Fire and EMS personnel and their families

Providing marital and pre-marital counseling and relationship support

Offering classes and seminars on grief, stress management, resilience, and burnout prevention

Assisting personnel and families in identifying job-related stressors and areas of concern

During the Call

A Calm Presence in the Midst of Crisis

During the call, chaplains serve alongside Fire and EMS agencies, supporting both responders and those affected by crisis. Whether the incident is routine or catastrophic, our chaplains provide compassionate care that allows responders to focus on their operational responsibilities.

Chaplain Services during the call include:

Providing emotional and spiritual care to victims and families on scene

Allowing Fire and EMS personnel to focus on patient care and incident operations

Connecting victims and families with appropriate community support resources

Notifying and coordinating with local clergy at the request of victims or families

Offering a calm, steady, and reassuring presence during moments of chaos and uncertainty

After the Call

Ongoing Support Beyond the Scene

After the call, long-term care matters most. The effects of critical incidents do not end when the apparatus returns to the station. Accumulated stress, exposure to trauma, and unresolved experiences can take a toll over time. Our chaplains remain available—days, months, and years after an incident—to ensure no one walks alone.

Chaplain Services after the call include:

Assisting with critical incident stress management and follow-up care

Visiting sick or injured personnel and supporting their families

Providing a trusted listening presence for Fire and EMS personnel and their loved ones

Offering spiritual care and support consistent with individual beliefs and values

At 3 Key Fire and EMS Support Services, Chaplain Services are not just a response—they are a relationship.

Spirtual Based Counseling

3 Key offers spiritual-based counseling services to all members and the immediate families of responders.

Our chaplains are trained in non-clinical support and counseling. They are trained in conflict management, marital and family issues, and pastoral care. They are trained to recognize when an issue requires referral to clinical care and have the necessary resources available to make that professional referral.

Several of our chaplains are also certified in Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) and are prepared to support responders when this service is needed.
